Humism, a watch that turns time into art

Based in Singapore, Humism is an independent watch design studio that re-imagines time. Bored with generic minimalism, Humism uses its watch movement to create art and using it to recapture time.

Humism draws inspiration from the Kinetic Art movement which was vibrant in the 1950s. Kinetic artists broke from traditional static art, and created art that produced beauty through movement.

Coming in three unique designs, each timepiece turns time into spellbinding art on the wrist. These designs, though simplistic, are not conceived in a short period of time. It took more than a year to take it from the initial concept to the final prototype – involving more than 50 people and thousands of drafts.

The seemingly complex dial actually displays three distinct discs which indicate the hours, minutes and seconds. It is intelligently and tastefully designed, offering a practical way to tell time while creating a visual marvel every single second. The markers are displayed stealthily on the white background, giving all the attention to the main attraction of the dial.

Humism is powered by the Seiko NH35 automatic movement. While not as refined as an ETA movement, this workhorse calibre offers both reliability and serviceability for the long-term.

Coming in a 39mm 316L surgical steel case and sapphire crystal on both sides, these artistic watches not only guarantee pleasure to the eyes but also satisfaction in quality. You will be pleased to know that these beautiful timepieces are worn on a 20mm full-grain Italian leather straps with quick release spring bars.

What’s even better about Humism is their charitable heart towards humankind – 5% of their sales will be donated to The Red Pencil, a non-profit that uses arts therapy to help those suffering from emotional trauma.
